For some of chemical reaction of alcohol, we already discuss in Chapter 5 (alkene) and Chapter 7 (Haloalkanes). Alcohol and phenol, both of compound have same functional group, which is hydroxyl, but the present of benzene ring increase the acidity of phenol, and make phenol more acidic than water and aliphatic alcohol.
